I had a full width roller striping kit installed on my x720's 62C deck when it was new. I am very happy with the anti-scalp abilities as well as the striping of the grass. Sorry I don't have pics of stripes but here is the machine with kit installed.

Aha ! I thought that was done with a full width brush. Do you suppose that's something that could be put on a 72" deck? I could make one from a bunch of boat trailer rollers.

So now how do you drive straight? It could get pretty ugly the way I currently cut my grass...

Thanks for the project report and pictures.

I believe there is different kits for each size deck because the rear guage wheels are removed for install of striper bar.

Do you have a bagger or mulch kit installed? In my mind (which isn't always all there), minimizing clippings would enhance the striped effect.

No bagger or mulching here. Straight side discharge with the chute tied up to spread clippings.

I see you have the wash out port on your deck, I noticed Deere is putting them on their new mowers. Do you use yours, and how effective are they? I have to get down on one knee to wash mine out with a sprayer, it takes a while to get all the stuck on grass out with direct spray I can't see how the wash out port can get it off, but if it works I wouldn't mind putting one on mine.

I do use the port to wash out after mowing. If you wash out right after mowing it does a OK job. If the grass hardens you have to scrape most of it out first.
