JD 318 New to me

Just inherited a 318.

So far I have found leaking stem in the filled rear tires, leaking hydraulics and in need of some cleaning up.

I also have a ballast box on the rear that I need to figure out how to remove. Any suggestions would be great.

Looking forward to learning more about this cool classic machine.

Replace the valve stem to stop the leak, or put in a new tube.

No comment on the ballast box... no clue, without a picture, what you are having to deal with. Go figure..

Parts book is free on the JD web site. The nice folks at 1-800-522-7448 have the operators and service manuals on CD and hard copy.
iirc weekendfreedommachines include the 318.

I will get the information, on it. Only has about 750 hours on it. Don't know the year need to find the serial number to look it up. As far as leaks go, need to do a good cleaning to I can find it. Everything is all gooey and dirty.

We inherited this from my wife's father who passed this January.
