The new backhoes will fit the cab abd open station tractors. The 375 will replace the 447 and 485 will replace the 448 backhoes.

375 stands for 3 is for 3000 series and the 75 is for 7.5 foot digging depth.
485 stands for 4 is for 4000 series and the 85 is for 8.5 foot digging depth.

This explains the numbering of the 260 backhoe (6 foot digging depth) for the 2305.

I can't imagine it would be long before the 46 (6.5 foot digging depth) backhoe gets replaced by a 265 backhoe, with a curved boom similar to the 260, 375 and 485.

has anyone heard any rumors regarding this?

No rumors hear, but I wouldn't count on a replacement to soon IMHO. The new series was redesigned for the cab tractors and since there are no factory cabs for the 2xxx machines I doubt they will replace whats currently available. But I could be all wrong also:D

Kennyd,

They do make a cab 2x20 tractor, it's just not for sale in the US. Go the Deere UK site, they sell them there. Must be because of all the rain... :D

I have seen that on JDParts Tom, but there is no AC available on them. It would be like a greenhouse in the summer:D

I just find it strange that the 260, 447 (now 375) and 448 (new 485) are all the newer curved boom design. The 47 and 48 were replaced a while ago, but the 46 remains.

The kubota B series backhoe is not a curved boom design, but it does have a factory mechanical thumb option.

Anyone heard any rumors on this? The 46 seems a bit long in the tooth compared to the other curved-boom designs.

The 485 will actually fit on open station med chassis (3000 20, 4310, 4300, etc). I don't think it will be a bit before the 2000 20 hoe is changed probably not that many in that line that actually get hoes compared to the 2305 so probably not a big concern. But could be wrong. I think as well with some minor re-working of the seat a 485 could be put on a 3000 20 cab. That was also the only issue is there was not enough room to swing down the seat.

The 485 BH is an unmodded fit for the 3x20 series. There's no need to change or adapt anything with or without cab as far as I know.

I was just at my dealer and there was a 485 sitting next to a 46 both getting ready to be put on tractors. For the money the two are night and day. I think my 46 cost me $6,700 and my 485 cost me $8,400 without the thumb.
One of my complaints about the 46 is that it didn't have enough power. It did what it had to do and it was great for trenching drainage ditches but big rocks and stumps were a chore.

Maybe the new 265 will come with a thumb option, now that would be cool!

Hydraulic thumb would be the ultimate! Mechanical would still be cool.

Looks like it will be a 270 backhoe! There's a picture and brief description here:
http://www.deere.com/en_US/homeowne...tility_tractors/47306_r2FINAL_2000 Series.pdf

New 270 Backhoe allows you to keep the 3-point hitch arms in place and
lift with them. You can even leave the mid-mower deck in place when installing and
using the backhoe. All of these conveniences while still ensuring powerful digging and
backfilling action.

I don't see a bracket for a thumb in the pic, though.
