When I got my 790 a year ago I had never owned or operated a tractor. I new a tractor would be handy, even with my little spot of land in the world ( 9 acres), but not enough for me to justify the cost. But...I wanted to build a carport, and even though a bull dozer would have worked a lot better, I'm a do-it-yourself-and-learn-something-new kind of person, like most, if not all, of you. So, that additional "savings" pushed me over the top.
The little 790 helped me dig up the stumps, hall them off, grade everthing flat, haul materials, back-fill the retaining wall, set the 12 & 16' 6x6's, lift the 24' laminated beams, and even provide an elevated work surface.
I nailed the last shingle this past weekend, so now it's open for business. I was working a little here and a little there until about 3 months ago, then I really got to it. I wanted it done before Thanksgiving, and I barely made it.
Had to move the tree line back a row
This was the largest of 5
Just rolled it down the hill and added it to the backstop on my 100M shooting range.
I definitly learned how to use a boxblade on this project.
2200 sq ft of concrete; Grass is way overrated!
Framing it up!
Ta-Daa!
I still need to add lights, but that won't happen until spring, I'm sick of working on this every weekend! I'm ready for the holidays and doing some clean up in the woods during the winter, which is the best time to work outside here in GA.
Best regards and happy Thanksgiving,
