Doing the 50 HR MYself on new 2305-HYD filter(s) issues

Got all the 50hr done myself except having issues with the hyd filter-external and the internal suction screen with the magnets.

1)The external filter has a gasket on it, and there is a gasket on the metal transmission case. When you thread the filter on, the gasket that is on the metal transmission case moves and slides up down and sideways so it doesnt line up exactly with the filter seal, thus, leaks. Any tricks? I have used fluid on the tranny seal to hold it but no luck.

2) How are the magnets supposed to line up in the suction screen internal filter/. Any special way or do you just set them in there making sure the end of the magnets go completly inside the lip of the screen filter?

3) I cannot see all the way inside(due to access issues) the tranny case to set the screen filter in. How far back into the tranny case does the suction filter go back in there? It appears that the last quarter of the filter sticks out and the suction screen cover goes around it and over it--is this correct?

Are you sure the gasket on the transmission case isn't from the old filter and it just came off when you removed the filter?

I think that you just put the magents in the screen and they are going to arrange themselves any way they see fit.

I don't remember how far the suction screen goes back in but I don't think there is much of a trick to it. I think you just push it back in and then just put the cover(not sure what else to call it) back on.

Just did this myself not long ago.
1. You must have a left over gasket for the spin on filter. There should only be rubber gasket on the new filter not on the trans case too.
2. The suction screen filter is a ROYAL PITA! I ended up removing the short hose so I could get it all covered in oil so the whole deal would go back together. I can't imagine trying to do the job in the cold as that hose would probably be a deal buster.
A) The screen has very little for the magnets to pull on. They will all fall together in the bottom after some operation. I know what the manual says, however, Deere is pretty smoked up if they think the mags are going to "stay" that way. Mine were all together on the bottom side of the suction filter when I removed it.
B) I am sure you don't want mags freeballin in your trany so make sure they are down in the suction screen just like they were when you removed them (yes they need to be "inside only").
C) It is sorta spooky putting the deal back together. The suction screen don't want to line up with the cover well (while fighting the bloody hose). That said, if you can't get the cover in place (seated fully) then the suction screen is not in place on the other end (away from the cover). Use caution (and plenty of oil) so you don't cut the O-rings on the cover.
3. Best I can remember you are correct with your #3 quesiton.
