| Re: Cost of 2320 50 Hr Service !!! Yeah, they rake you pretty good. I remember having them do the 500 hr service on my 955, because I simply didn't have the time, and I had to have the tractor done to complete the project. Then I saw the bill..
From that point on, I vowed to make time for all my service work, even if I had to do it at 3 in the morning or something.
Follow the instructions in the O.M. and you're good to go.

| Re: Cost of 2320 50 Hr Service !!! As mentioned read the manual a couple times and do a search on here for some common mistakes that have been made.. Its not that hard to do the 50hr service, just take your time so you dont make rushed mistakes..
My cost was $30 for the hyrdraulic filter and about $100 for Amsoil hydraulic oil.. I got a coupon in the mail from JD for a free oil filter and oil for the first oil change, so I took them up on that.. BUT even if you had to pay for it the filter would be no more than $10 and IF you went with a synthetic oil it would be around $22 for a gallon.. So the quoted price is quite high..
good luck.. dont be bashful about asking for advise on here
Brian

| Re: Cost of 2320 50 Hr Service !!! Just make sure you replace the oil filter FIRST, before you start pouring in the new oil!!! (don't ask.... )

| Re: Cost of 2320 50 Hr Service !!! Bill, first off do you have the tools needed to do the 50 hr. service? If you do and want to DIY then just tackle one item at a time.
Sincerely, Dirt

| Re: Cost of 2320 50 Hr Service !!! Hiya Bill,
Where 'bouts are you in Mass? If your not too far from NH, don't mind a little over the shoulder wrenching I may be able to swing by sometime. So, what's for lunch??
Spend the $ on the Amsoil, you won't regret it. (I can show you how to save some $ on that too)

I was calling them them because I am a "computer guy" and don't have much experience fooling around with these things. (I take my cars to the dealership for thier OilChanges.). Plus I use my tractor everyday and don't want to risk me taking it apart and not getting it back together because of lack of experience.
If I bring to dealer = $586.65
If they come to my house = $721.65
I was SHOCKED at these prices. (Or am I just being niave??)
I thought she was joking at first. Then I asked how much if I bought the parts to do it myself and she said "I don't know". I said "Thanks, but no thanks" and hung up phone with my mouth open.
Does this price sound nuts?? What is a Ballpark figure on how much the parts, fluids, etc will cost me to do it myself? I am being silly to being "scared" to do it myself?
Thanks for all the help!! | I just paid $507 for a 50hr. change on my 2520 and that price was with tax and pick-up/drop-off service. |
