I have a late model 4020 from which someone removed the starter. We have purchased new starter - but need to know where each wire connects. Do not want to take chance of damage by wiring it wrong.

Can someone with a late model 4020 (after serial # 201,000), please take a photo ( maybe more than one) showing how your starter is wired and email it to me?

Thank you very much.

The starter has two bolts & a nut on the backside that hold it on,takes a 9/16'' wrench. The nut on the backside is a real pain to get to unless you have on of the curved wrenches from john deere to remove it.

Hi al6798al. Do you have a Case 4020 or JD 4020? I think you are getting advice on the John Deere starter removal here...

lowellches, I have a JD 4020 but earlier. I could post some starter pictures, but sounds like you maybe are aware they would be incorrect for your later model?

I don't know if this will help you but it's better than nothing.
