John Deere 3720 Cab Tractor
I understand the 375 Backhoe is the one that fits the 3000 series cab tractors. But my question is why? If the open station can handle the 485, why can't the cab handle the 485? Will it still fit the same unit, but just not recommended?

What exactly is it that is limiting the Cab tractor to only take the 375 Backhoe? I know I can put a woods 8' Ground Breaker backhoe on my machine. But I really like the design of the John Deere Backhoe better. I'm sure the woods is a nice strong backhoe, but the only thing I don't care for on the Woods, that I really like on the John Deere Backhoe attachments is, I like how the Boom on the John Deere isn't hanging at an angle all of the time when it is in the transport position. I love how the John Deere locks up almost over-center vertical, much like a full sized Case Backhoe is designed....

any thoughts on the reason here?

I have the 447 BH on a 3320 OS. The tractor operating seat has to be moved slightly forward to allow the BH seat to be lowered into position for use. On a cab tractor the rear glass would prevent use of the BH seat as originally configured on the 447 / 448. While I have not physically seen a 375 BH I believe it is configured in such a way that effectively the BH operating station is pushed rearward 6 or 8 inches to clear the rear cab glass. Otherwise, AFAIK, the 375 / 485 specs are the same as the 447 / 448.

Here is a shot of the 3320 OS with 447. Compare how much closer the stabilizers are to the rear tires. You can see how much the whole BH has been shifted backwards so the operator stations will clear the back glass of the cab.

Thanks for the pictures guys.... so if the mounts are the same etc... why can't a 3000 Cab unit handle a 485? Do you think it is a weight issue?

IMO...Emphasis on the O part :D, the problem isnt weight, or anything like that...the problem is where you gonna sit when on the hoe?

It's a fit issue, the cab frame (not just the glass) is in the way of the larger BH. Cabs are great but sometimes require that compromises be made regarding attachment size/girth compared to open-station CUT's. In searing heat or in the dead of winter you won't care as much about the smaller BH, trust me.

Hi JasonMac
Seems like Cinder has the right answers...Your salesman should be able to get that info out of sales manual or just a phone call away. Sold John Deere on Hawaii Island for 10 years mid 2009 and very good support system if dealer wants your business he will find it in a day or two.
