The adjustable side link that dirt ditch has on the right side of his 3pt hitch is what I want. I'm thinking now maybe I could just weld some 3" long pieces of 3/8" round steel stock opposite of each other on the center link to adjust it with?

I still have to get off the tractor to loosen the lock nuts on the center link and the side link. I use the rubber mallet in the pic to tighten and loosen the center link locking nut. Can't tighten it enough by hand that it won't lengthen with weight on the 3 point.

If the one you have will fit my 790, I may be interested in buying it from you if you decide to let it go.
This link should help identify the parts on your JD.

Just type in your model number in the box at the top left and click on the 'find'...pick out your tractor in the search results.

Kebo.....are you certain that you do not already have an adjustable link on the right side of your 3 point? I think this is pretty much a standard feature. You and I have about the same tractor (if my memory serves) and mine has the screw adjustable link on the right. Granted, there are no "wings" to crank on it (I use a big crecent wrench on the flats provided) but I have adjusted my box blade to crown a road with that link on mine. I think you need to have another look.....no?

You could easily add "wings" to the existing adjustment screw which would make a big improvement IMO.....but it does work o.k. as is.

The turning handles on the 3x20 series look to be a bit more refined and easier to turn when there is weight on the 3pt.

Yep, it has the adjustable link on the right side.... only you have to loosen the jam nuts on either end before you can adjust it, then retighten them once you adjust it. I want one that has a crank handle (preferably) but if I can't find one like that, then I'll settle for one like dirt ditch has on the right side of his 3pt hitch. Makes it quicker and easier to adjust.
