Default loader leaks down 4310

I have a 4310 with a 430 loader. The other day I lifted my lawnmower with my loader to help get under it to change my blades. As long the tractor was running it would hold it. But when I turned the tractor off the loader slowly leaked down. It took maybe 10 minutes and the lawn mower was back on the ground. If I park it at night and leave the laoder up by morning it will be back on the ground. Any suggestions?? Do I have a hydraulic leak?? I haven't seen any leaks.

It sounds perfectly normal unfortunately. I think the JD spec is 7 inches per hour IIRC.

You may be able to slow it down by rebuilding the cylinders, but that also may not do anything to make it better either.

I have a 4520 and for the firsr 150 hours the loader would leak down. Now have 370 hours and noticed the loader will stay up overnight.
maybe just needs time.

Ok I appreciate the help. SO I guess this is normal. My buddy has a 5105 and his has never leaked down. Is this the 4000 series or they all like this??

Like kennyd says there is an allowance of leak down on loaders of "x" number of inches in a period of time. The main reason however for this is that it is a big liability to either leave a loader up when not operating or to claim it will stay up. For safety sake !!! put all of you attatchments on the ground when not in the seat and if you must work on something with the loader holding it up get yer self a chunk of angle iron and strap it to the hyd cylinder. Also the ten series tractors did have the occasional poppet go bad and allowed for too much leakage (these are in the rockshaft housing)
