The New JD 5085M Open Station ROPS

G'day,

I thought I've post a few photos of my new 5085M open station. It arrived a couple of weeks ago, and since I read up on tractors on this site, I thought it only fair to reciprocate by posting photos of the new tractor.

I few details. I opted for an open station (deluxe) ROPS model. MFWD 85HP with the 553 (non-self levelling) bucket. I've got the power reverser 16x16 transmission.

I'm really pleased with this tractor so far and recommend it to others. While it was a little extra, I'm enjoying the deluxe open station (over the standard open station). The cushioned swivel chair is excellent, as is the large flat (non straddle) floor.

Here are some photos, for anyone else looking at this tractor.
Now all I have to do is make it pay, so eventually, I can get myself a beautiful R-Series Cab (with front 3-point linkage and PTO) ;-)

Yes, she is a beauty. Really impressed with the hydraulics. I'm coming from a relatively lame Daodong 50hp, which had dismal hydraulics, so this is a big upgrade.

I'm finding a light touch is required or the bucket just shoots up! It's got good fine control through.

Very nice tractor Ben, it is good to see one large enough to get the job done, it should be a real upgrade from your prior tractor.

Yes it certainly is. My local mechanic dropped by today to look at an old backhoe we've been having trouble with. I was out in the paddock given a tour to some people and he came over with a glean in his eye saying "whose JD is that parked in the yard?!"...

I'd say he was 'green with envy' but that would play up to the marketing department of John Deere now wouldn't it!

But it's true to say I am *very* happy with it. So far it's done everything I've asked of it with ease. That is running a large flail mower, a power harrows, and most also a subsoiling plow that I'll be using for contracting.

I settled on something with just the right amount of 'extra' power. It's great to be able to do those tasks that before were just a little beyond the 50HP. Now they are a walk in the park.

First thing I noticed though was the suspension seat! Wow, I'd become so accustomed to 'back breaking' rides around the farm. The JD is like driving a bloody boat around! Slow cushioned rise and fall. Even large pop holes are cushioned with that seat.

And the JD has a big long bonnet, so it even looks like a boat from the steering wheel.
