My 2210 is now leaking around the drain plug I think, I just changed the oil and now there is a puddle on the floor. The plug fell in the oil pan so I don't know if there was a washer on it before it fell.

I have a 2305 and I'm almost certain that I have a aluminum washer, on mine. I think you have found your problem.

JDParts shows a washer. Part # M806438.

My 4010 has a brass washer. It looks like one that comes with the Puralator or MB oil filters. They usually provide 2. I may have put on one from a filter package, but it may have come with it. I don't recall.

It's interesting that the 4010 (and likely 2210 and other JD diesel engines) uses the same 17 mm plugs for the engine drain and vent on the thermostat as my old 240D had.
