John Deere 755 purchased new in 1993
You would think the 90 degree hose fitting on the left side of the fuel filter mount is part of the casting. It is not. It is only a press fit into the larger diameter piece on that side. I found this out when my 755 sputtered to a stop with the smell of diesel fuel. That press (now slip) fit piece had blown away from the filter mount and the pump then sprayed fuel all over the hot engine. Fortunately no fire and after things dried I did a temporary fix with a tywrap, bled the lines, and drove it back to my shop. Anybody else see this before?

I have seen this happen a few times. Years of vibration seems to loosen The elbow. You can either replace the filter head, or I have repaired some with loctite. Remove the filter head and clean the housing and the elbow with brakleen to remove any fuel residue. Apply high strength loctite to the joint and assemble. Allow it to dry overnight before installing filter and filling with fuel.

Mine will probably blow out very soon since I replaced the fuel filter Saturday night. Was rather disgustting.

Thanks. I will just repair it.

I know the lower volatility of diesel lessened the chance of fire, but it did briefly provide a bit more excitement than I care for. Makes me begin to think about adding a fire extinguisher bracket to the tractor

Mine did the same thing, When I took it all apart I noticed a very small groove in the 90 degree elbow. I am wondering if their is a small "snap" style ring to go over it and then get pressed into the filter housing.? I am taking mine into the JD dealer to see if they can get the small ring or not.

I had a similar problem on my X740 - but it was the straight fitting on the other side of the filter housing that fell out of mine. My fitting also had a groove that I thought might be for an o-ring. I did reassemble it with an o-ring but it only held for a few minutes. Thought about trying JB Weld but decided not to waste any more time on a part that cost less than $30. It was time to replace the filter anyway and the new housing assembly includes a new filter.

I have a Branson 3510 with EXACTLY the same problem. My first fix was just to superglue it back together, since this is a press-fit connection. It's one month later, and it failed again today. Tomorrow I plan to try cleaning the connection and mixing up a small amount of JB Weld to dope the connection surface with, then press it together again. I will also use your zip-tie technique to hold it in position while it cures. JB Weld requires 24 hours for a full cure, but the manufacturer claims it to be impervious to water, gasoline, and other petroleum solvents. I'd like to hear if anyone else has tried JB Weld for this type of repair, or managed to find another permanent solution.

How old is your machine?

I have an X740, hearing this news makes me nervous.

I used JBWeld to repair 4 cracks in my plastic fuel tank where they had formed in nuts to attach a skid plate. LS warranted the fuel tank and gave me another after about 4 weeks wait but by then I had fixed the old tank , redesigned the skid plate and figured I would put the new one on when the JBWeld gave out. That has been almost 3 years and it is still holding. Clean off all the fuel residue with acetone or other degreaser, rough up the female joint and the male fitting to make a rough surface for the JBWeld to attach to and it should hold forever

Different Kubotas I have worked on have almost identical fuel filter housing/filter. I have seen those housings crack in different spots, the threaded filter keeper ring break, and loose fittings like the O.P had happen.

The cast metal of the housing is not good stuff. The design, technique, and materiasl all together is hoaky.

I do know that replacement units are not to bad to buy, around 30 bucks complete with filter....... Almost explains all the problems:D
