Okay folks here is the problem. My 4310 refuses to move forward or reverse. No obvious
loose wires underneath around the pedals, checked for loose connectors, can't get the
plastic pedal cover off to check around the pedal linkages...how do you get those little
round plastic buttons off of that cover ?

No codes when turning it on or when pressing the pedals...in fact it doesn't even throw
the single blink when turning the key switch ON. I've tried moving the range lever to all
positions and I tried jumping the seat switch connector with no luck.

The mid PTO will not engage, with Operator on seat, brakes off, rear PTO off...again no codes.

It started this stuff yesterday, I did go through some brush, and after working at it
for an hour or so I gave up. Came outside today, and PRESTO it moved fine. Did a little
work and parked it today...PRESTO no move again...hydraulic fluid is full and clear,
fitlers changed about 20 hours ago.

The no codes at start up or when pressing the pedals sounds like it thinks it's operating
properly, so does this sound like a seat switch or do I need to just cut the plastic
buttons on the pedal cover to get it off, and check the connector inside there ?

HELP.....

So I'm thinking that it just about has to be a seat switch...otherwise the mid pto would
engage...the rear pto works fine when on or off the seat, just as designed.

I would try to jumper acrossed the seat switch, very easy to do and they do fail.

Thanks KennyD ...I did try that, just used a piece of wire to connect the 2
terminals on the seat plug...no luck.

But after the tractor had sat outside and cooled for 3-4 hours, I get back on it and
PRESTO...it healed itself. So now I have no confidence that it will move if I
should turn it off. VERY strange...it acted like a sensor or wire problem, but
I have no idea now that it healed itself 2 days in a row after sitting and cooling
for several hours.

I hope it lasts through getting 2 dump truckloads of mulch spread!!

I had a similar problem with my 4310. When I started the tractor, I pushed the forward eHydro pedal and nothing. I could go in reverse, once. If I stopped, I had to stop the engine and start over. But still only in reverse.
I pulled the cover under the pedals. Use some electrical pliers and pull the tabs holding the cover. I think there are 3 or 4. I found a wire that is spliced together with a wire crimp fitting. Evidently, I pulled it ever so slightly apart when I went over brush. I pushed it back together, crimpled it tighter and off I went.

Maybe your problem is different, but you may want to check under the peddle cover.

Good luck,

Randy

Thanks alot, I'll give it a try in a few minutes.

This morning it moved just fine, then I stopped and took a break, came back an hour later
NO MOVE....arrgghh. Don't you just love electrically controlled stuff....it's all
gee whiz when it works but it sure makes your life miserable when it's broken.

Next tractor isn't going to be Ehydro...I'll think about powrreverser.

The problem continues...I tested the seat switch by running the tractor engaging the rear PTO with the parking brake off, and then stood up off of the seat...the engine died
immediately, so it must be getting the signal from the seat switch.

I got the plastic cover off of the hydro pedal linkage and checked the two plugs
down there, and pulled all of the wire wrap off to be sure I didn't have a break in
the wires there. Checked out good.

I noticed today and yesterday, that when it is cold and I turn on the ignition switch the
code light flashes one long flash, upon power on, but if I turn the switch off and let it
sit a minute or 2 and then turn the switch on I don't get a flash. It seems that when
I do get the initial single flash upon power on, the tractor will move normally, but if I
turn it off and try it again in say an hour...no flash, and no move.

Sounds to me like there is something that resets after being powered off for a while, or
cools down. Could it be the HST controller ? The fuse was good, and I swapped it
for a known good one with no change. Could it be some kind of relay going bad and\getting hot ?

I'm stumped...I'm no electrician that's for sure.

I don't think it is anything getting hot, I believe there is a bad connection. Get under the tractor near the pedals and push ON THE WIRES going in to the connectors for the solenoids. I think there is one or more wires partially pulled out.

BTW the single flash is the controller telling you all is well in hydro land. No flash the controller is telling you there is an open in the system.(it cannot complete the self check). You are right in connecting the no flash and no movement.

Well I finally got my 4310 fixed. I had noticed that every time I tried to start
the engine, the fault light was not lighting on the initial power on cycle. Each
time that the fault light did the initial flash, the tractor would move normally.
After it got hot the initial flash did not happen, and no move.

I finally called my dealer to pick up my tractor. The mechanics there diagnosed it as
a HST controller. They replaced the $530 controller, and off it went ops normal.

So, what could cause this non-wear item to go belly up? I think it's heat related.
The controller being behind the engine really gets warm, as evidenced by the hot
foot and legs when operating this tractor.

I'm just aggravated that this $530 controller would go bad so early in it's life.
The tractor has only 190 hr. on it and has always been stored dry as bone
in my basement. Only mows5 acres, and light loader work spreading mulch and
such.

Do any of you believe that I should write Deere a letter asking for some compensation
on this expensive part that only lasted 190 hrs. ?

I'm kinda dissatisfied with this tractors ehydro...it seems very trouble prone.
Maybe I should go for 4720 with a 400cx loader or kioti or kubota.

Agreed that 190 hrs. is not very much use for a $530 electronic "box" to go belly-up. I'd be frustrated, too!

Buying a 4720 with a 400CX FEL sounds like a really good idea to me... But, the ONLY transmission available with that tractor is the eHydro!

Before you contact the regional or headquarters people at Deere - I'd do some additional homework through your local folk's. Ask them for their ideas regarding the likely causes for the early failure. Maybe they have noted other 10 series with the same problem. Deere may have issued a service bulletin (or a DTAC) for this situation.

Best of luck.

I think compensation may be a possibility. I say this because I had problems with the front axle on my 110tlb when it was three years old and payed off, out of the warranty period. Since the machine only had 245 hours on it the Deere rep split the cost of the repair with me.
