Just bought a 1010 gas John Deere. Diamond in the rough. At least it was stored in a barn. Seems to run OK, exhaust leak right where the pipe connects to the manifold. Got to fix the brakes first thing. Wife says it looks like I am going to have one of every color. I told her 2 of each color.

When I returned home from my last tour in Vietnam I got a job in a large game preserve. I spent days, and weeks alone with a JD 1010, and a rotary cutter mowing everything I could find to cut. I really liked that tractor, and just working it on the 37,000 acres was probably the best therapy that I could have found at the time. I hope yours brings as many good memories as I have with that one!

100_1606.JPGI see Bill never replied, so let me post some pic's of a real nice 1010 that is really cherry! The old man and his son put a cab on it homemade, but looks real good. Check out even the Belly pan doesn't have a scratch on it, shedded since 1964. All original except the cab with about 2300 hours on it.
This is the best Deere tractor I've found since I found a 1971 7020 with about 2100 hours!

Very nice. I envy you. Your 1010 dozer looks nearly identical to the 1959 JD 440D crawler I had with canopy except it was yellow. Couple of years ago a guy came along and offered me more than I paid for it so it had a new home. Wished I had it back many times.

Sorry I did not post a picture. The day after I rolled it off the trailer a man came by and listened to it run and doubled my money on it and all I did was charge the battery and add 2 gallon of gas.
That is a very nice dozer.
