2520 Seat Safety Shut-off
If I lift my fat arse off the seat, should there be a sparky arcy noise coming from aroundabout the fuse panel on the 'driver's' side ?
The arcing stops as soon as I sit back down on the seat /switch.
I don't remember a noise before I had a blown fuse.
I've had the engine shut off a few times in the past because I stood up for just a tad too long, but I don't recall the sparky/arcy noise.
For a couple months before the blown fuse I had what seemed like an ignition switch problem
key on and nothing would happen. several tries and maybe a rap on the cowl and the dash lights would come on and then the starter would engage in start, but the engine would not keep running with the switch in run.
A couple tries and it would start working.
Acting like a bad /intermittant ignition switch.
(lights and flashers worked and the batt was fine)
Once I got the engine running the problem would go away for the day.
Until two weeks ago, when out in the field it wouldn't start back up.
And found a fuse blown.
Ignition problem hasn't returned, but I doubt a fuse was causing the original intermittant problem. (course, Ive had the switch out and upside down, so who knows what has changed internally)
tractor is always garaged
Must be time to get a shop manual - best/only place is deere ?

Re: 2520 Seat Safety Shut-off
Have you discussed it with your deere dealer?
And what do they say?
I'd take the fuse cover off, and watch/listen when activating the seat switch to attempt a better knowledge of what is happening.
See if all connections appear to be tight, and not a loose fuse or wire.

Ha! :-)
They say they'll come look at it for $225.00 +.
But that' it's kinda tough to fix something that isn't broke.
I don't think I've explained the ignition problem very well.
I bought it new in 2007 and only have 90 hours on it.
The noise could be normal and I'm just listening better now that I've had my first problem and had a few things apart I'd rather not have had apart.
I've even had the cowl off and checked all the connections to the myriad of relays. Everything looks like new.
I did find the start of a pile of pink insulation mouse house and was worried about chewed wires so did an extensive inspection and the pile of pink was all I found. Luckily. They didn't make that ignition switch easy to access.
Might have a chance to have someone else sit on and off the seat while in gear this weekend.
I'm not too worried about it. Just don't remember that noise.

Re: 2520 Seat Safety Shut-off
we are tracing wires and fixing corroded ends on a
2305 today that had the same kind of problem, mouse house
up under the dash and a this was a corroded charging
wire that the terminal end was all crudded up so it
wouldn't charge.
they can cause lots of problems for sure!
