JD 5083E 5x5 round baler
Looking at new tractors and am wondering if a 5083E would handle a 5x5 round baler. *83 hp 65pto Tractor without loader 7000lb . Now the 5093E is 93 HP 75 PTO. I don't want more tractor than I need but I don't want to max the tractor out either . Thanks

Re: JD 5083E 5x5 round baler
John deere 558 baler requires 55 hp at the PTO. This is their only 5x5 baler. Their 4x6 baler requires 65 and their 5x6 requires 75.

If you figure out which 5x5 baler you are going to use, you can then look up it's required minimum.2009 John Deere 5101E

Re: JD 5083E 5x5 round baler
I have been looking at what manufactures recommend. Vermeer 505M is 50 min 60 recommended. John deere is as you posted. My concern is recommendation are probably on flat ground in perfect condition. I was hoping someone would chime in on doing about the same. I would hate to purchase the set up and wish I had gone bigger but I don't want to go bigger if not necessary. Dealers will tell you anything. I feel you can't believe everything a dealer or manufacture says . Thanks for the repley

Out of curiosity, what is the price difference between the new 5083, 5093 and 5101? Being the same tractor and engine (tuned differently) I would think the difference would be negligible. Maybe not. I haven't priced them new.

Re: JD 5083E 5x5 round baler
3000.00 more for the 93 and 3000.00 for the 101. 6000.00 difference between the 83 and 101. I was adding the 18.4 tires modulator for the reverser and adding a rear SCV 553 loader Bucket and bail spear to the 5083 and was priced at 45000. With the o% on a loan I can't really by used . There just wouldn't be that much difference. If the 83 would handle the bailer I wouldn't want any more tractor. I run a MF 255 and do 500 lb bales and it works that tractor to death.
