What are the opinions on the 72"MMM verses the 62D on the 2520?

The larger the deck, the more it will scalp.:(
I don't think the 72 is a drive over either.

According to the "build your own" configurator on the Deere site, you can only get the 62D on the 2520.

Shows the 72" available for the 4115.

The reason I looked is I would kill for a 7 Iron deck for my 2520!

You can get a 54" a 62" and a 72" for the 2520. The 72" is not a drive over or a 7 iron.

I was looking at buying a 2320 to 2720 new last year. The dealer said the only difference (for me) between the 2520 and the 2720 is the 2520 is limited to the 5' deck and the 2720 could run the 6' deck. I was ready to get the 2520 with the 62", the 72" is too big for my yard, but I bought a used tractor.

Thanks for some ideas. I know the 72" is only available on the 2520 and 2720 and was just seeking some feedback as I am looking at this deck. The non-drive over sounds like a pain as it would not be as easy to just drop and go and then re-mount the deck.

The 62D and the 72" for the 2x20 series neither of them are a 7 iron decks but my current 62D is a darn durable deck non the less.

I agree, but....

I mowed with a 757 zero turn for years (7 Iron 60" deck) and had to downsize so I bought a 62D for my 2520.

My only real gripe is I have to mow wet all the time - the 7 Iron would spread out a nice pattern when wet where the 62D wants to clog and windrow.

I knew it would be a comprimise when I made this change and just have to live with it.

After years of wrestling equipment off tractors, I think the drive over deck and quick mount loader on my JD 2320 are the greatest designs in the history of tractors.

Yes, I would agree with that. I love my 200CX, 62D, and iMatch hitch, especially since a back injury has caused me to not want to wrestle with any attachments for my 2520.

For me, it was the drive-over feature and the ease of attaching and removing the deck that sold me completely on the 62D. The 2520 seems to have more than enough horsepower to run it. I never really considered the 72" deck, because I couldn't imagine trying to get it on and off.
