Getting my New to me John deere 670 compact (FEL - PS - 4x4) ready for winter and ran into 3, what might be classified as stupid questions - but here goes.

1. After draining oil I filled at top of valve cover. BUT there is also an oil fill on the right side of engine by lower radiator hose and just right of the fuel pump. Whats that oil fill for ??????
2. Rear Diff. - I can't find where to check the oil level in it like the front diff. OR does the oil that runs the PS and FEL also lube the Rear diff??? If not - where/how do I check oil level in rear diff.
3. how about the Transmission - or does that too run of the FEL oil?
My limited manual doesn't say. ---- thanks

engine was used for more than one application, so both oil fills will work

rearend/tranny/diff & loader work on the oil in the rear housing, dipstick is in the very back on the pto shaft plate RH side

Nice little tractor, the 670! My first tractor was a 670...sometimes I wish I'd kept it!
Anyway, you can buy the service manual on CD-ROM from Deere. It was about $50 when I bought mine.

It was my first tractor also. Loved it. Had it for 8 trouble free years. Also wish I would have kept it.
