I just got my LandPride RCR1248 on Friday and just now got a chance to use it, hooked it up and drove it about 20 feet and the darn driveshaft snapped in 1/2! What in the world caused that! I was running it on my 2012 John Deere 1026.

Drive shaft has 2 parts that overlap. Your drive shaft may have been cut too short not allowing enough overlap when the rear of the mower deck is in a lower position and thus the 2 drive shaft parts would pull apart from each other. Check with you dealer if they had cut (shortened) the driveshaft.

Agree, was too short. One of those two pieces slide into the other. Not broken.
You are in luck, and only need to get the right length shaft.

I'll fourth that. Good thing it didn't fly up and hit someone

I concur too. My bushhog tiller pto shaft is the same way. I have a question - do you have a quick attach mounted? this will lengthen the pto shaft distance. I'd remove the quick attach if you have one.

When putting the pto shaft together - note there is a flat spot on one of the corners that only mates on one of corners to other shaft. Don't ask how I know .

Did you have the tractor end of the shaft securely latched in place to the rear PTO shaft? Perhaps it just came off the PTO shaft and then slid apart. Might not be too short after all.

IN other words, it appears nothing is broken. The PTO shaft is designed
to be "Telescoping". Pick it up, wipe off all dirt and you will see the
male end fits into the female end. perhaps you were sold a too short
of shaft OR, MAYBE, if you did not have the shaft fully connected
to the tractors PTO Stub, maybe it simple fell off!
You probably have an end w/ a spring loaded retainer, did you pull
back and seat the internal setting ball bearings when you connected
it up?
If still stumped post up my pics of the endsa dn everything involved.

I agree with everyone - the staft is too short - other than that nothing is wrong. i learned that the shaft slide into each other when I unhooked my attachment and forgot to unhook the pto and drove off sliding the shaft appart...i looked back and thought....oh ##@#!!!
