Beware John Deere 4*20 series owners--antifreeze leak

   / Beware John Deere 4*20 series owners--antifreeze leak #32
I bought a used 4120 and it had the leak there have been several service bulletins on this issue mine was fixed twice under with John Deere picking up the tab...first with a more flexible sealant because of the aluminum and cast iron temperature coefficient second time adding a gasket...the same engine is used in stationary pumps for irrigation and generator sets and in those cases as well as skids steers they use the gasket...not sure why the didn't gasket all of them....

I have a 2006 4120 and now at 2500 hours, have the same coolant leak. I just noticed it on the concrete barn floor yesterday. The tractor is always parked in the pole barn as well. Very disappointed to hear about the high cost of a defective item after warranty! I'm thinking that adding coolant as needed is much cheaper than a $2000 repair bill. I'm also thinking about trading it in for a notch smaller unit anyway.
