Regarding the 5000e Series tractors, I understand the hydraulic system uses the same fluid and therefore one common sump. I see the steering pressure is around 1900 psi whereas the implement pressure is around 2800 psi. Are there 2 separate pumps taking suction from a common sump or just one higher pressure pump with a lower pressure (steering) regulator valve with a fluid return line to provide the lower pressure steering system? 2 pumps or 1?

2 pumps.

Most of the tractors you see with open center systems are using a two section pump with two sets of gears connected to common shafts. The two sections are driven by a common shaft but each set of gears are isolated from each other. The output sections have separate relief valves and the gear sets are sized to the flow rate needed for the two applications. Building the pump this way is just more economical in most cases, is standard practice and works well enough.
