I have a 2004 Jon Deere 790 tractor. The issue is the 5 amp fuse blows to the fuel pump. I have notice that if I disconnect the connector going to the solenoid and turn the key to the on position the fuse does not blow. When I connect the solenoid and turn the key to the on position the 5 am fuse blows. Does anyone know how to check the fuel solenoid with a volt /ohm meter. I would like to know before the spend 180 bucks one a new solenoid. Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks..

Sounds like the solenoid may be bad, but before installing a new one make sure the old one did not fail because the Time Delay Control Module is bad. The TDCM should provide the pull-in voltage for no more than 1.5 seconds. Long term application of that high current will cause the solenoid coil to burn out.
