JD 3320
I'm looking to buy as tractor in the next while, and I can't decide how big to go. I'm after something in the 33hp range. Looking at the 2032 I feel it's to small a chassis so that one is out I think. Then I look at the 3320 sitting beside it and go, man. Is that to big already? So drive over to kubota and looked at the 3350, the chassis is about in the middle between the 2000 and 3000 series jd's. So i like the size But I grew up on John Deere and would love to own my own. Pros for the kubota is price, good chuck cheaper than the 3330.

Here's a bit what the tractor needs to be able to do for me. We own a 10 acre acreage, all treed besides for the yard site and a dugout. Right off the bat the tractor will be used to landscape, help build the driveway farther onto the yard, move a lot of top soil to landscape along the driveway, round off/ level out a rough cut drainage ditch all the way around the 10 acres, clear brush and trees, bush hog, and anything else that needs doing as we develop our yard. Once we settle in the main uses will be snow removal, till the garden, grass control, brushing as we possibly expand the yard and clear more trees through the years, and we would love a few horses and maybe a cow down the road. So i might end up needing to move round bales. So..... What do you think? The 3320 would be nice for the heavier work now I think. But is it going to be to big for the simple day to day tasks later on? I know this is the John deere section so most will probably say go with 3320. But honestly I'm not sure if it's going to be to big later on? Any thoughts? Here's some pictures of where it would be at home.

I think the 3320 will serve you well and shrink in size when you get it home. I debated between a 3520 and a 4120. So glad i went to the larger size which fit my needs better. As far as cost, 10 years from now it won't matter. It sounds like you really want the JD. Just do it, you won't be disappointed.

I agree. Go bigger than you think you need. Once home and on your property in the open, it won't look so big (in fact, it won't look big at all) and the more power the better for what you want to do. I'd look at the largest 3XXX series machine as a starting point, but would really prefer a 4XXX tractor for that kind of stuff. I wish more than about anything I had never sold my JD 4500.

BTW- that's a beautiful setting. Enjoy!

I had a 2520 for 5 months with 46 backhoe, I did a LOT of work with it but it broke and JD took a long time to fix it. So I needed something (after waiting 1.5 months for them to fix 2520) so I got the 3320 and I'm glad. Its a beast compared to smaller 2000. Suggest you get the block heater for cold weather starts and fill tires to get better traction.

It's expensive to move up. Based on your comments, IMO, 3x20 as a minimum. I don't even have 10 acres and there are times when a 4x20 would have been welcome, especially for the additional FEL lift.

I purchased a new 2010 3520, without cab with 300cx loader and 485 Backhoe. I love the machine and glad I never went any smaller for our forty Acres. Lots of landscape usage. Thinking now a front end loader larger than the 300cx might have been beneficial.

Thanks for the thoughts! I know for a fact a 3000 series isn't to big by any means while I'm setting up our yard, it's after that I'm a bit unsure of. I have a brother in law with a 3720. He bought a 1023 last year for mowing and tilling as he felt the 3720 was to big and awkward for that kind of work. I don't want to end up that way, I would rather buy something that's maybe a bit small now but perfect for the rest of it's life. The heavy work will last a few years, after that I hope it's 15 years of daily chores. You guys don't find the 3000 series to be to big for normal small tasks? True I want the John deere, but was leaning toward the kubota already at one point, now I'm leaning back the other way. Lol my dealer has a 2011 3520, 60 hrs, with a brand new 300cx loader. Still under warranty for $28000. Tempting but it's gonna blow out of my budget once I add a few attachments. The kubota is about $8000 ahead if you compare apples to apples. The dollar difference makes this harder than it would need to be! Any other 3000 series owners feel like chipping in some thoughts?

We started with a small la175 with a 52 inch deck and a 110p trailer to pull behind it. What we found is this . It is great for the smaller tasks, but as time went on, we thought of larger tasks we could do if we had a larger tractor. We find the 3520 a nice size. My wife and son love it , very easy to operate . I love it too, however , I'm thinking of maybe a 4000 series now
