JD 4720 err81 on dash - died - spin no start HELP

290 hour 4720 hydro.
I was mowing today & it died.
Temp hand was a lil hi but rad is clean & AF level full

I pressed dash buttons & seen
err 04 79 81 82 & 86 but 81 was showing when eng died.

Any ideas ? As manual is useless.

Error Code 81 is Low Fuel from a previous day.

Anyone know what the error 16 or 216 is? Had this come up yesterday evening so shut it down until I find out. This was on the 4520 2009 cab tractor.

I have 4320 2006 model and the error codes go 1 to 15 and the 50 to 77. Can't help.

216 is a generic "engine torque derate" some engine condition is out of whack causing the computer to derate it. You may have to enter the diagnostic mode and step through and look at the sensor values.
I don't know what 16 is...I couldn't find it i the service manual

It only happens at high rpms and I suspect I need to change the inner air filter.

My Red Oil Pressure light was Flashing when engine died.
The Engine Never Knocked or made noise.
Oil Level was full.
Engine would spin but No Start.

Any ideas ?

Err_04 and Err_81 is abnormal engine speed update or missing engine speed data. Err_79 is missing engine hour meter data. Err_82 is Engine computer not responding. Err_86 is engine coolant data missing or abnormal update.

Based on these errors, I would say that your engine computer is not talking. I would look at the CAN bus wires between the 3 computer modules, and look for a fuse that serves the ECU.

It may be a good time to get a service manual

I read wher ground wires could be loose on the frame.

Could that throw these codes ?

Yes, they could if the ECU's power was affected. Were you mowing brush? could a stick have damaged some wires?
