Hi All-wondering if I can get a definitive answer..from somebody. The Deere implements catalog indicates that the Frontier 2060 brush hog can be used with the 2025R. Later in the same catalog, this is not the case. The 2060 does not include the 2025R tractor in it's user list. Thoughts? many thanks-Phil D

There is a video showing this rotary cutter on a JD 1026R
Trying out the rc2:cool: - YouTube

Lower HP just means need to go a bit slower if engine power is not quite enough. IMO

My 2720 runs it just fine. Your 2025R will also.

Howdy to All...Well, here I go again looking for some definitive answer to my burning question: Which brush hog will be best suited for my JD 2520R? I'm looking at the MX-5 at 823 lbs, the LX-5 which I can't seem to find specs on, the Frontier RC 2060 at 620 lbs and the Woods RC-5 at 494 lbs. There seems to be a serious debate on whether the 2520 can power a 5' rotary mower. I'm not (usually) cutting a field of 3' tall grass or serious 3" thick small forest trees and shrubs. I currently use a woods 5' Cadet EM 60 FP-1 behind my 1963 Farmall 140 for field mowing and trail maintenance. The 140 is a great set-up except no loader on the front. When I'm doing my trails I'd like to have the loader hence the need for a rotary cutter on the 2520R. Any thoughts woulds be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Not sure but the MX5 at 823 lbs might be a little heavy for the 2520. 5 ft width should be no problem though.

When I was looking for a brush hog, I rented a JD 855 of similar hp as the 2025R, and tried out a demo JD 513 (5ft) brush hog. With the HST tranny, there was no problem handling this size deck. Still have that JD 513 but running behind my JD 4300 at 32 hp. Only problem that I can see, would be trying to run it without the FEL to counter the weight on the 3ph.

I don’t have a 2025R, but I have a Kioti CX2510 which would be a competitor. I’d put a 60” hog on my 25hp tractor. I do live on flat land though.

Once the hog is spooled up, it’s cutting mostly with momentum. You can always chew slower or take smaller bites if you need.

I’m find most of the 48” implements are really light duty. I found the 54” box blade was twice as heavy and twice as expensive as the 48” model.

I’d probably want the heavier duty frame, heavier metal body & more robust gearbox that is more apt to come on the 60” hog.
Thank you very much for your reply.
