Latch Kit

I'm sure its somewhere in the Forum, but would someone explain to me what a latch kit is? I have a 4110 and wonder if its something that is needed?

I did a TBN search on latch kit, and hit several, among them this

Ordered a new one from JD and my Son is going to make Extra Brackets for others.
