JD 72\" Mid Mower Issue

Wondering if anyone can help figure out what I'm missing or doing wrong. I have a 2520 with the 72" mid mower deck (3pt hitch height controlled).

1. Is there a slick way to lock this mower in the up/transport position so you can use a rear implement without removing the mower each time?

2. When you do remove the mower how do you keep the two lift arms (linkages) from dragging on the ground? It's a pain if you have to remove these with the mower deck each time.

Thanks for the help.

There should be 2 locking pins (rounded on one end and a hole for a spring pin on the other side) that came with your mower that you slide in on each side of the mower deck to lock it up. Then you can use the 3 point with the mower deck attached.

As for your next question I simply use twine or a bungie cord to tie them up out of the way so I don't have to remove them.

Re: JD 72\" Mid Mower Issue

I asked this question to my salesman when they delivered my 2520. He said no their isn't a way on this machine to hold the deck up other than the hydraulics. But one can add the MMM separate lift option and you could then control it.

The first time I tried to remove my 72" MMM it would not slide out without hitting the tractor frame. Salesman said the only way to remove it is either by lifting the front of the tractor with the loader or with a jack. Seems odd but I can't find another way.

Re: JD 72\" Mid Mower Issue

There was a kit for the 4115 that allowed you to lock up the mower deck if you needed the 3ph. :
BM19507 Mower Height Latch Kit
For Use with Mechanical Mower Lift. Not for Use on 2520
Tractors. ]
But, as you can see, they haven't come out with one
for the 2520. It's a simple kit, and you could make one
with some chain links. Basically it attaches at the back of
the tractor, it's a couple adjustable chains, with a turnbuckle. They connect down on your mower deck lift linkage where it moves with the 3ph link arms... and up on
the tractor and makes it so you can just hold up that linkage,
and free up your 3ph. it would also hold your linkage up when the deck is off.
if somebody has a set with a picture , maybe they can post it
and you can make your own.

Re: JD 72\" Mid Mower Issue

if i did this right, you should see a page
out of the op manual for the 4115,,
i'm sure it's similar to what the 2520 instructions
would say,, with a few differences..
but there are ways to make it fit
under the tractor.. turning some of the gage wheels
and removing that one front gage wheel..

let us know if this doesn't help ,, but your manual
should have similar instructions for your deck.
