JD 855 MFWD
I recently purchased a JD 855 and the owner had removed the 3pt hitch and was unable to locate it. The JD dealer has been unable to locate a hitch kit for the tractor (unless I want to buy each part individually at a cost > $1000). I visited my local Tractor Supply, and they have lift arms that are a little longer than those on the stock 855. I measured 25.5 inches hole to hole on another 855, and the ones from Tractor Supply are 31 inches hole to hole. Will this extra length cause a problem? I'm also looking into ordering an aftermarket kit, has anyone ever bought one? Any recommendations?

Thanks.

My guess is it would be ok. Would reduce you lifting capacity slightly but probably not significantly. Might need a longer 3rd link also. You could also cut out 5-6" and reweld/reinforce. A good weld should be plenty strong.

Check out ebay. I have seen them there in the past. My guess all of the X55 series may be the same.
