I thought I would try the same mod that others have tried with their 2210 tractors, where the X series suspension base (JD PN AM134254, cost is $123.60) as added.
see 2210 link: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...-seat-question.html?highlight=2210+suspension)

For the 2305, this is what I found:
>I had to drill some holes and grind a slot in the base plate to provide clearance for the head of the screws that hold the seat adjustment handle. Washers alone are not enough the raise the baseplate above the screw heads as there is not much height on the base rail studs....

>To put the seat all the way back would require some trimming of the corners of the rear of the base plate. I did not do this as the seat still moves back far enough for me.

Overall, I am happy with the new suspension. It really helps soak up the bumps...

I know this is an old post. I bought the X series base for my JD 2210, and the cost was a total of $167.82 with the sales tax here in Indiana. To keep from having to cut a clearance hole in the base plate for the the adjuster lever screws, I used a 135 degree chamfering tool, and reamed the hole out on top of the adjusting plate so I could use 10-24 X1/2" Flat Head machine screws. Then I only needed one spacing washer, or reg. washer under the base to bolt it down. And the adjusting lever was bolted to the bottom of the adjusting plate for more clearance. I used the adjusting lever from the new X series adjusting rails, and put it on the old adjusting rails. Worked great! I also had to make two adaptor plates 1" wide X 2" long, and 1/8" thick, with a 3/8" hole drilled at each end, and 1-1/4" between the holes. Then I bolted them in the up right position on the inside of the new base where the long pin goes through the seat. I may need to order the rubber bumpers that goes on top of the base to hold the seat up at the back. Or, I may come up with some springs to bolt on under there. We'll see! Took me around 3 hours to do this job. Mike
