Deciding whether to go for the Frontier RC1048 or the JD LX4 rotary cutter for my 2210. Both have slip clutch & guards. The RC1048 is $1,200. and the LX4 $1,250. Both are I-Match compatible. Any thoughts?

I had an LX-4 on my 2210 and it worked great. Someone else will chime in with confirmation, but isn't the RC1048 a replacement for the LX-4?? If so, I would expect better pricing to get it off the lot.

I have an LX4 on my 2305 and it cuts really well. The only problem I have had is that occasionally one of the blades will spin around when you stop or start the pto and get jammed in the center. It's easy to tell because it vibrates excessively when you start and throttle up to speed.

Depending on your location, I saw a LX4 advertised in Michigan for around $700 with little or no hours?

The Frontier is the replacement for the LX, HOWEVER the LX4 was made by John Deere and the Frontier is made by someone else - probably a decent maker, but I don't know which one. The LX series are discontinued and I would ask for the same or lower price on it as the Frontier. However, I would probably choose the LX4 even if it is $50 more. I have an LX6 and while I initially thought I had bought something second best compared to a Woods, but after taking a close look at a Woods brushbull (and, ack, the much cheaper Woods Heritage, which one Woods dealer told me to stay far away from) I feel that the LX is a good quality cutter and worth the price.
