Hey guys
Recently I decided to replace the dryrotted turf tires with R4's. After speaking with my dealer, they told me the rims and/or tires are NLA.
I did some research. First I had to find the mfwd ratio just to be sure. I called the dealer again, and was told they couldn't find the info, I said try the ratio for a 790 as they should be the same, again they said no good. I said what!? the 790 is practically a current jd model? they said, no, it's a non-current model. Soo I called the help # on deere.com. the polite girl whom answered said she couldn't find the info. Spent time searching the deere site NG.. Then I posted the ? on deere.com site. after some back and forth Jo Ann e-mailed me the ratio ( 1.571 ) With this vital info I then searched tire sites and found a good fit with the proper frt wheel lead ratio.. I did not need to replace any rims.. got a proper size from the Titan tire site then called a local truck tire place and they got me the exact tires from Titan for $290.00 total less. I have moved a lot of dirt with the R4's on
very nice.
All the people I spoke with were polite enough. I'm sure someone else could've gotten the same results quicker than I did. It wasn't easy for me though..anyone else have a tough time getting tractor specific questions anwered?
...thought you might find this interesting
