When was it made??

A search of the forums looking for the words that I thought would key on this question has provided no results, so I hope I'm not re-hashing an old question. Can anyone tell me how to read the serial number on the 4000 series tractors to know when it was manufactured? If my tractor serial number is LV4400H******, do the L,V, or H determine the year and month of manufacture?

Hoss, this is how its explained in my parts catalog.

Example: LV4100G110031

LV- Factory Designation = Augusta, GA

4100 - Model/ Machine Designation = 4100 Compact Utility Tractor

G - Configuration Code =

G: Gear Transmission
H: Hydrostatic
N: Narrow (Gear Transmision)
C: Gear Transmission (European)
D: Hydrostatic Transmission (European)

110031- Serial Number


1998 Models 110031-210000
1999 Models 210001-

My copy was published in early 99 so that was as far as the yr/serial numbers went there. My tractor was ordered and delivered in 00. The serial number begins with 31xxxx.

Maybe it can help some.

Actually,

The C stands for coller shift, S for sync reverser, P is power reverser, H for hydrostatic, and all the European models have an E is the plate.

I do not know but the tag on on the frame has LV 4100 it is a JD

I assume you are reading the serial number incorrectly. It probably reads LV4100H310434. If so, it was built in November 1999. Originally sold in May 2000, resold in august 2001 and again in November 2007. Prices on Tractorhouse.com range from $6000 -- $12000 depending on location, condition, hours.

4100 compacts are entirely Yanmar built for JD
