Hi. New to the forum and am looking for some help identifying this old cast iron John Deere cover or plate. I did some research and found it may be off a horse drawn drill? Could be a tool box cover of some sort?

Part number on the underside is A-172-L-H. Red in color (possibly painted over but I've seen another one the same red) and early John Deere logo.

Does any one know what this is off of and what year range it would be from? Early 1900's?

Thanks.

From looking at the deer jumping over the log that tells me that it is from 1910 to 1936. The logo on this lid is the second logo Deere used and changed it again in 1936 and in the 1950's.

Thanks Mike.

Now, does any one have an idea of what these are off of?

The H suffix tells me that it is from the Moline Harvester Works, and its probably off of a reaper.
