1940-1941 John Deere Model H
Hello,
I'm looking to sell a 1940-1941 John Deere Model H. It has not seen ANY use and been stored in a garage for the last 40+ years. It was started up on occasion and driven around briefly every few years or so. I'm not sure the exact year, I looked up the serial number a few years ago and seem to remember it being a 1940 or 1941. It was my Dad's tractor, he passed away last year and I'm trying to help my mom part with many of his 'belongings' that are a difficult reminder for her. I'd also like to get the best value for it (to help her expenses) while making sure it goes to a good home.

The sheet metal is in very good shape, no rust just needs to be cleaned up. Also has the wood saw/log cutter attachment (no belt). It was never brought to my attention that it needed anything, I just need to figure out how to start it (fly wheel/magneto).

Can anyone give me a good idea as to what it's worth? Anyone know of anyone with interest? Tractor is located in Newry, Maine. Thanks for any help you might be able to provide.

:welcome: to TBN

As it sits, a WAG would be $2k.

For starting, first drain the fuel from the tank and from the carb. Try to remove all traces of fuel and make sure there is good flow through the lines.
Then remove and clean/replace spark plugs. Check for good spark from mag.
If all is well at this point (spark and new fuel), then choke on, spin the flywheel, and see if it will fire up and run.

Thanks for the quick reply...what might WAG stand for? I have a feeling thats a stupid question LOL

Thanks again.

In my neck of the woods an H like yours would sell between $2500 & $3000.

Good luck

I just bought a running H this past summer for $2100 with the electric starter option.

Not running, it would be hard to get $500-700. Need to at least try to get running.
