I agree with that!

I have the CK20HST I don't think I could lift a round bale with the FEL. A couple weeks ago my son broke a tie rod on my 02 grizzly which weighs a little over 600lbs. I thought put the forks on and carry it to the barn, the 20 would not pick it up. Going on what you've said I would go with the 30. As stated this tractor is beefy. Hope this helps.

A CK30 with KL130 will lift only about 100lbs or so more than a CK20 with KL120. I personally think that for lifting bales weighing over 600-700lbs with the FEL, that a DK40 with KL401 would be the place to start. Lots of reserve lift and ballast to keep a good safety margin. I would imagine that all the CKs could manage a 600lb bale on a 3pt mounted fork so long as you had counterweight in the bucket.

The biggest problem with forks, bale spears and the like, is that they put the load a good ways away from the pivot pins.
This severely limits what you can lift.
Especially when you figure a QA/Fork or Spear set-up can weigh between 100 and 300 more than the plain bucket non/QA set-up.
I have seen 600lb bales lifted with a CK20, it was using a bolt on bale spear.
Remove bucket add spear.
CK25-35 should lift the same amount reliably with the same set-up possibly a little more.
DK35/KL351 will handle 1000lb bales on a spear.
The DK40/45 with 401 will handle them with authority!
We have lifted off a crated 2485 BH with a DK35/KL351 combo using a set of heavy 48" WR Long Forks.
With a QA spear it shouldn't have any problem with the 1000lb bales.

I didn't have a spike and only had three to move so I had to chain them but this one weights some were about around 1200lbs. If you closed your eyes you wouldn't even know it was there, completley stable.

I'd say it looks more like a predeployed Redneck airbag.

Just note, that Mark.R is lifting directly below the pivot point and very close to the machine. If you put that bale on a spear, it would be a huge load for the tractor. Just like lifting anything yourself, the further away it is from the machine the less lift capacity is will have.. it drops fast, a good 30% for every 18". In round numbers, a CK20 has a published lift capacity over just over 1000lbs at the pins, about 650 in the bucket, and probably around 200lbs 3-4 feet in front of the loader where a bale would be centered. Don't think that it will lift the 1000+lbs that it says in the brochure.

So the question is, will the DK40/45 and KL401 loader lift that 1200lb bale on a spear?
