I never had trouble lifting things with my CK20/KL120. The place where I found a much bigger difference once I upgraded to the DK40se/KL401 was in breakout power.
ISLAND, your experience of moving from the CK20 to the DK40 must be like
relocating to a different planet. If I had to replace my tractor, I think I
would get the DK40se/KL401, too. Even after driving the L4740HST+, though
the Kubota loses only due to price.
My primary tractor is the CK30H, for 3 y now. I also bought a CK20 and have
some hours in that seat, too. I do love the CK20, and its FEL is awesome,
better than the FEL on another 2000# tractor I have used extensively, the
JD955. The limiting factor for the very stout CK20 is hp, IMO. The 955 had
33hp, but with only 21, the CK struggles just moving its own weight around,
if there is any slope.
I am actually quite happy with the KL130 FEL on my CK30, and I have
reported that I have been able to lift 1500# with it if you don't go too high.
My homemade fork frame does have a much more forceful curl geometry than
the OEM bkt, however, and I plan to design a similar pin spacing into my
4 in 1 brackets when the WRLong unit arrives next week.
