Where are you guys finding these deals!!

Let me first preface this post by saying "thank goodness for the web and wonderful forums such as TBN!". Can you imagine what a consumer's life must have been like before the web? May explain why I have so many debts

I'm amazed at the deals some of you have posted (see Dfeck's $10K deal for a ct230). I checked my local (central Maine) Kioti and Bobcat dealers and got the following quotes:

Bobcat CT225= $16,850 (includes rear-hydro and mid PTO)
Kioti CK27 (gear) = $18,195 (includes filled tires)

Both are quotes with the 0%/60 month finance option and nowhere close to some of the deals I've seen posted here

My questions follow:

1/ Do all dealers pay the same invoice for tractors, or do the prices vary by region?
2/ Is there a resource such as kbb.com or edmunds.com for tractors that list invoice prices vs MSRP by area? It's hard to negotiate when I have absolutely no idea what the markup is. And I don't think that printing the posts from this forum and presenting them to dealer will help in the negotiations (kinda like presenting a note written by my friend's mom granting permission for us to view a rated R movie when we were just 13... we ended up playing PacMan and DigDug that day)

Shop dealers that are a bit farther away first and see what they will offer to get you to make the drive.
I bought my DK45SE last June. The local dealer(38 miles away) wanted $25000+. The next closest dealer(60 miles away) was happy to take $21500.
That being said if Michigan Iron, Wallace or Upper Valley Kioti was my local dealer I would ask them for their best price and just buy it without all the grind as those guys are all great.

Two years ago when I was tractor shopping I found New England to have the highest costs on machines. Most of the Maine/NH Kioti dealers I talked to would not move off of "list" price. I called/emailed some out of state dealers, I could get a tractor delivered from Penn cheaper than I could get from a Maine dealer!!?? I ended up buying a good used machine, for reasonable money, from Upper Valley in NH.

I tried 2 other dealers. However, they were reluctant to encroach on each others territory. One did explain that the different prices were based on the year the tractor was purchased. 2009 purchases were more expensive than 2008 (due to high cost of metal, energy etc...associated with the 2009 production). So large dealers with huge inventories of 2008 tractors are able to sale them at a lower cost. Smaller dealers are less likely to have 2008 tractors on their lots hence no special deals.

I priced the DK series with a local dealer that sounded high. The next closest dealer (2 hrs away) was $4000 cheaper on the DK series.

Thanks to Rick Wallace and Bob Cat of Boston I was able to get my central Maine dealer to match their price. It took some negotiating but at the 11th hour they came through. If it wasn't for this web site I would probably be sitting home wishing I had a tractor.

Are you getting a front end loader with those quotes? For the Bobcat promotion you either get the free loader OR the 0/60. My local ag credit agency (frontier here--I'm sure you have one close) has 6/48 months or 6.5%/60 months. The cost of financing on these note is far less than the value of the free loader. I was quoted less than that (14,800) for a 335 with loader and own financing. Haven't started haggling yet either.

Glad to hear that local dealers will take note of information on the web. I will be visiting a few dealers in the next week or so to test drive. I've just discovered that Kubota is offering the 0%/60 deal. The quote I got over the phone for a L2800/4wd/HST was less than for the CK27(gear). That should help in negotiations--either way--I hope.

Yes, FELs were part of the quotes. The Bobcat dealer did tell me that I could get a better deal through conventional financing and a free loader. I never followed through... but should. Thanks for the feedback.
