| Lets talk sun shades The OBX area maybe nice for tourists and beach go-ers that like to frolic in the ocean but for those of us on the tractor its just a bit to hot and sunny. Because of this and the viscious sun burn I got this past weekend I was thinking sun shade.
So who has one on their CK and if possible any pics? I am concerned with durability, I have some rather bushy trees that will not be coming down (I just love the shade they provide to much when I'm working) and storage since I have been folding my ROPS and parking the tractor in my detached garage. I will be adding a steel carport shelter with sides for the tractor at some point from these guys most likely STATELINE BUILDERS - Steel Strutures.
The next problem will be diverting the heat from the tractor away from me.

| Re: Lets talk sun shadex I have an orange plastic Kioti sunshade on my DK40se. Works very well. I whack it frequently and unintentionally into overhanging branches. I've managed to put two small cracks into the raincatcher lip but otherwise it has held up just fine. Haven't tried to repair the lip yet but may try a plastic welding system one of these days. Overall it is a perfectly satisfactory product and worth the $300 and change. Were I to do it again I'd probably get the same thing. If I had unlimited funds I'd probably have a full FROPS made up and use steel but I am satisfied with what I have. Much better than no sunshield (been there done that). |

| Re: Lets talk sun shadex Thanks Island that's what I wanted to see. If the CK unit was 300 and change I'd be all over that. I called wallace for a quote and it was $450 and LTL. |

I guess they've gone up in price. It is a nice unit though, not sure you are going to find anything as durable for less. There is one company that specializes in these things, cannot remember the name but searching on TBN will help you find it. |

| Re: Lets talk sun shadex Try this link: Item
The recent discussion of these sunshades/canopys on TBN suggests that the aluminum diamondplate models may be more durable....
That is one person's opinion who used to work for a dealer who sold/installed them.
Do a search of TBN to find the thread.
I think it was under customizations category of main forums.

| Re: Lets talk sun shadex Hi,
Check out That tel-trax link(posted above) and look at the aluminum diamond plate. It is a nice unit I have sold 2 of them and you can get a universal mount for it to fit any size ROPS. I had good service and prompt shipment. The only thing I had to do was glue on the rubber molding around the edge.
My customers love it and no chance of cracking in cold weather.

| Re: Lets talk sun shadex I bought the kioti orange plastic thing, and I'm not crazy about it. It does shield the sun, and it hasn't broken from tree limbs. My problem is that even with the rops all the way back, it won't fit in my garage. So it is a large PITA to take on and off. I did learn a little trick to it though, I use a cabinet jack (for installing cabinets) on the deck of my tractor when I install those brackets. It's not that heavy, but wind can make it a real PITA. So, I use an addtional clamp from the rops to the shade while installing th brackets. All in all, it's not that difficult anymore.
I may have to come up with a quick disconnect for this, but haven't had time to play with it. Keep your garage height in mind when puchasing the product. If you have 10' doors you will likely not have an issue.
