My final analysis of the factory sound system is sub par to say the least. The speakers are very cheap and at little volume are distorted. The stereo looks ok so I started with the speakers. They are very easily replaced and I used 6.5" 3-way Pioneer speakers. You only need to block up to roof about 3" for easy access. I did it by myself but another set of hands would make it a snap. Once replaced the bass was noticeably better but with any volume was still distorted.
So, I happened to see that walmart had Kenwoods KDC-BT710-HD on clearance for about $86. I took it home and replaced the Dae dung radio. Upon removing the factory one, I noticed it was installed incorrectly. The cab has a back plate to secure the radio. The radio has a stud on the back that goes through the plate and secured with a nut. My radio has the stud but wasnt secured to the bracket. The Kenwood I used a washer and screw to snugly "pull" the radio to the bracket which in turn snugs the faceplate to the cieling. I mounted, prior to installing the radio, the microphone to the left of the radio and just after completion I turned it on and WOW. Huge Huge difference...after pairing the Bluetooth my wife called and she said it sounded great. Bottom line is the factory radio and speakers are very poor.IMHO
And thank to Eric for the roof removal and everybody's input.
I have some pictures but haven't figured out how to post multiple pictures

I'm guessing the original installer at the dealer didn't bother to lift the cab top in order to install the radio. That would explain why the support bracket was not used. Can't get to it with the top on. I installed my aftermarket radio that way. But it's so light, there's practically no stress on the front mounting bracket.

Glad you got your audio sorted out.

Correct.. I'm not faulting the dealer because they are light but it is a little bit of theft deterrent also and it removes all stress on the front of the radio.

I also replaced the factory cab lights with LEDs. I already had the 27W lights from my CK35 but I just couldn't get them to work like I wanted due to their height. Eric had used the 36W ones that aren't as tall so decided to try them. [as a flight instructor we have a saying to students. 'learn from others because you won't live long enough to learn them yourself' - so once again thanks to Eric for the teachings]..After receiving them I studied about mounting..I ended up using the mounting bracket from the cab. what I did was to cut two 9/16" spacers using brake caliper guide pins (they are thick) to go on opposite sides of the LED mount and 4 -1" bolts to tighten the light down.

when removing the factory lights it is very easy to pull the grommet out with the connector. After removing the light just slide the grommet off and install it on the LED wiring and then crimp on the new connectors. I forgot on one and installed the connectors first but the grommet still went over them fine. Then just connect the LEDs and push the wiring back in the cab and re-seat the grommet.

and for those who still wonder about Factory VS LED lights....the jury is no longer out.

this is just my version of the LED install, your version may vary.

As a bit of follow-up, it appears that the John Deere 270 84" wide snowblower is the same thing as a McKee 720 SnoLander snowblower. As a result, I purchased a John Deere 270 parts manual off of ebay.

Clearly if I paint the McKee 720 green, I can double my money!

It's not just snowblowers. Green paint is magic, doubles the value of all tractor related equipment and parts.

Same with front mount ones. RAD makes the same blowers for Deere, Kubota, Massey, NH, etc. Just a little different mounting bracket for each brand.

I see what you mean in your video on this blower. The auger would be better at pushing snow than the currently available blowers (I have a Land Pride). I wonder why they changed the design—maybe to cut cost?
