Hi All,

What is the best RPM for general tasks such as digging with backhoe, FEL use and just traveling around the property? My user manual doesn't shed any light on this.

On my DK35 I found the "sweet spot" to be between 1900 and 2100 RPM's. I think after you get the engine broken in you'll find a place the engine like to run.

I agree that is a good range. I would use lower for many BH projects and a bit higher for mowing in tall grass or brush or perhaps tilling but the 1900-2100rpm range is a good general guide.

On my CK20HST I find that anything over 2,000 rpms for backhoe work makes it too twitchy and swings to fast, I run it at about 1,900-2,000 rpms. For loader work, I run about 2,200-2,500 rpms so the engine does not bog down at all when I am curling/lifting the bucket while driving into a pile and steering all at the same time.
