Default DK35 Good deal?!

Hi all! First time poster, long time reader. I couldn’t resist the bob and tom reference.

Anyway, I’ve been reviewing tractors for a while now. I’ve been leaning towards the Kioti DK line of tractors. I was going to wait till spring and had my pole barn built before I bought a tractor.

We recently bought 26 acres in OH. Out of the 26 only 8 is tillable, approximately 6 needs mowed, the rest is woods. We are in the process of clearing 1 ½ to 2 acres of woods for a house and as I mentioned pole barn.

My wife said she saw a tractor for sale along the road and she thought it was a Kubota. My neighbor has one and she was at least familiar with the color. Because she found it and mentioned it to me I felt I owed it to her to at least stop and look at. As we pulled up I was excited to see Kioti on the side and it was a DK35. It had a KL1450 FEL and a KRM03-72 finish mower. The hour meter had 36 hrs on it. I wrote down the phone number and immediately went home and called. The guy said it was a 2002 model and that he bought it in the spring. He is recently unemployed and basically wants to get to get out of the payments. I can get it all for $13,500. Although I wasn’t quite ready for the tractor yet is this a deal I shouldn’t pass up?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

This is a GREAT site!

Mike,

I think I will but only once, not twice. Just kidding.

Actually I’d like to just take over the payments. I’m not sure how that works though. He has a pretty good interest rate. I’m hoping to work something out this after noon. I’ll let you know.

If you feel he is being straight with you, I would jump on this deal. Let us know how it works out.

Good Luck!

Hoosier,

I’m pretty sure this is an all right guy who is just in a tight spot. I’ve looked all over the tractor and can’t find a thing wrong with it. Except for a scratch or two on the FEL it looks brand new. I guess with 36 hrs it basically is brand new.

I couldn’t transfer his loan to me but got a better rate at my local bank than he had. I’m just waiting for a call from the bank to go in and sign my life away (at least the next 2 yrs). I’m optimistically hoping to get it yet today or tomorrow.

By the way, you got a place I can keep it this winter?

I’ll let you know how it turns out.

You can bring it over to my place! I'll find someplace to keep it!

Like the others said - JUMP ON IT!! It's a good deal. I test drove my first DK35 a few weeks back. It didn't have a FEL, had a sunshade, turf tires - and that dealer wanted $13,000 for it. It was a 2002 also.

One question though. Does the warranty transfer over to you? It should, but I'd check on that. And find out what "deals" the owner may have made with the dealer (free 50 hour check up, etc.) and see if the dealer will honor them with you too.

Good luck! I'm really envious of you!

Good point golf,

I called the dealer where he bought it and they said the warranty wasn’t transferable. BUT any warranty work could be run through his name. This guy lives near and said he would help out in the future if something goes wrong. But then again it’s a Kioti! What’s to go wrong? I guess it is a drawback compared to buying new.

I bought my DK 45 used with 168 hours and straight from the mouth of Kioti in North Carolina: The factory warranty does not transfer. The dealer can work with him just as he said. I felt that the money saved was worth more than the warranty. They seem to be good tractors and at this point I have had no need for warranty work. Ted
