broke dk55, BOOO Kioti

Well we have a dk 55 kioti with just turned 50 hours.. It has a FEL and a Woods 90-X backhoe mounted up on it. couple weeks ago i noticed some oil on the ground, looked too see the left rear axle housing had a 2 to 3 inch crack on the bottom back side near the bottom bolt. further looking i found the right side also to have cracked. The left side had two bolts on top of the housing that held one of the mounting plates too the center case.

So i tried for 2 days to get in touch with dealer we bought from (2 hours away), nothing, so i got a hold of another that is closer too us, just 50 minutes. told service guy all about it made apt. and dropped off for them to warranty it. Sounded like it was going to be. Well i was wrong, just got a call back and they say Kioti will not cause it has a woods hoe on it not a Kioti unit. so we have to pay out of pocket for repairs, or take to dealer we bought from for them to work on. (dealers dont get along with each other i just found out).

I get in touch with the dealer we bought from, great guy, just hard to get in touch with sometimes. So he says bring it too him, he will see what can be done. long story short what my issue is with Kioti is they wont warranty it cause its a Woods hoe, BUT McCorrmick tractor built by Kioti, uses WOODS as there FEL/ backhoe attachments off choice.. dealer sells both and know this.

Some may ask why it cracked, not sure. dealer that has and looked at would not say. but it was going to be covered by warranty till kioti rep heard it had the WOODS BH.. my opinion for KIOTI is not as good as it was before we bought the tractor..

I have put all hours on the tractor and it was not abused at all.

I bought my CK35 new with a Woods backhoe. It's BS that they won't warranty the Kioti because it has a different manufactures backhoe, or for that matter, any other implement on it. I think you need to talk to a your original dealer and get him to fix it under warranty. If you still have a problem I would get hold of a big shot (no don't shoot) at Kioti. :2cents:

This will likely cause a s***storm here but i understand why the closer dealer wouldnt fight for warranty on the machine.... you didnt buy from him.


Was this a 3 point mount? You say mounting plate, so ill assume its a subframe style.

You have to read the warranty. Bolting a non-factory attachment to the frame can open you up to having warranty denied, regardless if that attachment is used on the same machine but sold under a different brand, as you've found out.


Hopefully the dealer you bought from will step up and put a squeeze on Kioti to get you fixed under warranty, but these type things can be NASTY. This is one reason i try to keep my tractor Kubota, from attachments to fluids and service items. I can say "Look, your name is all over these things, so your responsible for any issues that arise from their use". Just makes things easier if the worst happens.

yep brand new, why cause we liked some of the features, the 4 year warranty, price and the dealer..

i have not talked with anyone else yet, i may have to try to get a hold of someone.

I can understand other dealer not really pushing, but this really makes me not to EVER want to do any type of business with them, if they cant help out in this situation i am not going to think they would in other situations. Also the price they wanted, well they didn't even want to talk about a lower price.

hmmm, i just went and looked at Kioti's warranty...

It states in easy to read print that they wont warranty for damage done by non kioti backhoes. I hope that they will bite the bullet and fix it.... but they dont have to.I really dont know of ANY manufacturer that will warranty their product if you run other brand product thru it..... heck i had a truck warranty voided cause i used synthetic oil.

does it look like the woods mounting bracket caused the damage????

Did the dealer put the BH on for you? If so if he didn't warn you that it will void your warranty then it should be him paying for it. I would also contact Woods and say look at what your BH did to my tractor. Doesn't seem like this should happen. No way would I be paying for this repair or I would tell the dealer to take it back for whatever they want I'll put in a word with everyone else about how you screwed me over and I'm going to go buy another brand. Really the first of this I've heard, normally hear good things about Kioti but if they can't fix what they screwed up I'll go somewhere else.

So you take a backhoe NOT DESIGNED for this particular tractor, mount it on a brand new tractor and break it within 50 hours and expect Kioti to fix it after you went aftermarket instead of the factory designed backhoe? :mur:

I GUARANTEE you could put an aftermarket backhoe on ANY tractor and when it breaks, that manufacturer will say the same thing. Not my backhoe - Not my problem. Sorry, but I would side with the dealer/Kioti on this one...

On the bright side, it sounds like a couple of welds is all you need.

Really the first of this I've heard, normally hear good things about Kioti but if they can't fix what they screwed up I'll go somewhere else.

Where exactly did "they" screw up?

Who makes the Kioti BH?? So both Trumpet housings are cracked?
