Observation after the initial engine start up after my first engine oil and filter change. Temperature 45 F with Kioti oil filter and 10W-40 CJ4 engine oil.

The engine oil pressure light stayed illiminated for an estimated 3 to 4 seconds after the first start following the oil and filter change. Re-starts afterwards the light seems to go out in about 1 second. Suspect this is normal as the system has to re-prime the pump, oil galleries, and fill new oil filter before the oil pressure builds high enough to make the pressure switch so the oil pressure light goes off. In other applications, that have a vertical mounted filter, I usually fill the new filter befor re-installing.

Do these times seem normal after a engine oil and filter change?

thanks

Yes mine does the same, more so if below 30 and not started in a few days.

Normal working. The oil pressure sending unit is at rear of engine at farthest place from pump. Takes a while for oil, when starting up after oil change. Especially when cold.
