DK 55 Front axle oil change

I'm about to perform the 50 hr. oil change on the front axle of my DK55. The manual indicates that I should replace the oil with either SAE 80 or 90 weight oil. No other specifications are given. So does this mean I can use a either GL-4 or GL-5 gear lube? From what I read on the Oil, Fuels and Lubricants forum, certain additives in GL-5 type gear oil are hard yellow metals. I have no idea if the front axle contains yellow metals.

On my CK25HST, I just used 80/90 gear oil from my local Co-Op... Didn't know their we're classes of gear oil... But after reading this, it appears it was GL-5 approved. Here's a link for your FYI:

I have never had the front end apart to know if there are any yellow metals but in case there are, you would be fine with a GL-4 gear oil. I believe from factory, they use the same hydro oil as is in the tractor's hydro system. Mine had hydro oil in it from new and Michigan Iron advised that what they see also.
