    Default Tach Cable Loose?

While changing oil I noticed a few shiny threads that looked out of place. I tried to tighthen up the knurled collar but it turned the entire cable...Before I made things worse, I thought I would post and see if anyone has experience with this cable. It is on a 2003 DK35.... Thanks in advance for any insight into this....

Can you determine where the cable attaches on the other end?
This might help indicate what it is for, and what to do, if anything about the threads you show...

    It is the tachometer cable.
That nut is just stuck to the cable housing causing the entire cable to turn. It should turn free of the cable housing to tighten it up.
Spray a little penetrating oil on the nut to see if it will free up to turn.

Thanks Vince, Sounds like a plan. I will soak her down and see what happens... I thought that might be the problem, but thought it would be a good idea to get a more experienced account...
