I have been researching oils for my service, I'm going to go ahead and change the Hydro oil along with the filter.

My book recommends several oils, but I can't seem to find them locally without going to the dealer with a mark-up on the price.

Recommends: Shell Donax-TD
Mobilfluid 424
Exxon Hydraul 560
Tractran UTH
Daedong UTF 55

Looking at some labels and other "Universal" oils I am not seeing a cross over. Way to many types to chose from and I don't know enough about them right now.

What are you all running in a gear shift Kioti's CK series?

My dealer said any 303 spec oil will work fine.

Others are ordering the Mobilfluid 424 on line. I used the TSC Traveller UTF. One of the specifics is it should be rated for wet brakes. I tried contacting Kioti and they basically said check the manual. I think the Shell Donex doesn't exist anymore.

BTW you are going to have a **** of a time removing the hydraulic filter that resides underneath by the right tire. Most people are using a chain wrench like the one I got from HFT for about $7. Nothing else will take it off. I added some red dye I got from Deere so the clear fluid is easier to see on the dipstick and also if you have a leak.

Red Dye, now that's a great idea. I was actually having trouble the other day seeing the dip stick.

I was actually thinking about shoving a screw driver through the filter and trying to spin it off that way. Had to do that on my truck when some jack who owned it before me tightened it so hard. Like he used the filter wrench to put it back on or something.

I added the dye to the tractor after changing the fluid. If I had to do it over I'd add it to the 5gal pail before adding it to the tractor. The local JD dealer ordered it and got in an extra. John Deere Oil MT3668

Others have used the screwdriver trick. It's kinda destructive and no-going-back solution. The chain wrench with an extension worked and only crushed the filter a little.

Well, called the dealership and they said just use an oil that is for a wet brake.

He said he uses Powertech or something like that. Said it was $60 per 5 gallons, I asked about other brands, well there wasn't really an answer more of an "I'm not an oil guy" comment.
