weight in the rear
I filled the tires, but would like more weight in the rear and especially low - lots of hills. I asked the Kioti dealer for wheel weights for the dk55, but it seems I may need to make something. Any ideas? [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

ditto what redrocker suggested - i use my boxblade on my DK55 when i need weight. looked into wheel weights, but i decided that it was much easier (and cheaper) to put on the implement rather than the weights..

From what I remember, only AG tires can use the standard Kioti wheel weights, right? Of course, one could make up some special weights and make them fit on turf or IND rims. John |

It states specifically in my New Holland TC48/55 owners manual that weights can be used along with fluid in both the ag tires, which are 6 ply, and also with the R4s that I have which are 8 ply. The rear tires on my TC48 are 18.4 x 24, don't know what yours are. The manual also gives fliuld weights with CaCl fluid, #800 each, but mine are filled with windshield wiper fluid, so I estimate about #750 each. My tires are Titan, so yours maybe the same. Does the Kioti owners manual give any of this information??

It depends... I believe (never tried) that the rims on the larger Ind tires can have wheel weights because they have the bolted in center dish pan.... I think the Ag and Ind center pans are about the same between the ag and Ind on the larger 55 and 65 tractors so they should be able to use wheel weights.... never tried it though... looks like they would though.

On some of the smaller tractors, guys have either greased, or used plastic sheet and cast concrete weights in to their wheels. This of course involves removing the wheel and laying it onto it's side. If you have access to another loader, this may even be possible with the DK55 rim. I'm sure that the cost of steel weights is expensive, as well as installing them. I'm sure I read it somewhere that only the AG tires will accept the Kioti brand of wheel weights, but I can't find it anywhere now.
Just for informational purposes, here's a link to an article about proper ballasting. In many cases, I believe it's not advisable to use much weight with small CUTS if one often is using heavy implements as well. This is fairly interesting reading: Ballasting your tractor John |
