Default DK35 4wd Quit

First time poster long time reader, I purchased a new DK35 last month and have 50 hours on it. Solid machine, the new version has push-button 4wd. The 4wd however has quit working. I have traced all the wires and the system has good current running to it. I removed the sleeve around the front 4wd drive shaft and put the tractor in the air and was able to see the 4wd shaft turning while the 4wd was activated. Sooo it has to be a front differential problem somewhere somehow, anybody have any idea's or similar problems. I'm taking it to the shop soon since it's all covered under warranty, I just like to know what, where, how and why my stuff breaks.
Thanks

Have you been using the 4wd very much ? Does anything in the front make any noise when you try to use the 4wd?

I would think if your front diff was bad you'd know it. A busted pinon shaft might allow the drive shaft to turn without making too much racket.

I had been using the 4wd box blading rock, it was quiet as a church mouse up to and after it quit. It makes no noise now.

I'll take a stab at a broken axle. If the axle is broke with a nice even cut, you won't hear anything.

When did they change to electric engagement of 4wd?

I would think the front drive shaft would turn whether or not the 4wd was engaged when the wheels are rolling. Sounds more like the electric motor that shuttles the tranfer case into 4wd. (check the fuse) Ps How do you know its not working? Back tires are slipping and fronts are not turning? If the shaft was turning in this condition, I would then think it was differential/axle related.

You say you had the tractor in the air? Is this with all 4 tires up and then putting the tractor in drive and turning the 4wd on and off? I assume the shaft did stop turning when you turned the 4wd off? I would think that if something broke in the axle you would have heard something.... a snap, or pop.... but maybe not.. Your dealer should have no problem telling what it is when they peak inside...

I was acutally up your way today on a delivery... Took a CK30HST up that way. Just let us know if we can help in anyway...

OK Jon, We want to know how it is that you know who this poster is? It doesn't sound like he's your customer, and there is no profile info. Are you a consultant to that new TV show "Medium"?
