The answer to this is here somewhere, but search gives me a 404 so: How much hydraulic fluid is in a CK20 HST. Manual says between 5 and 6 gallons, but someone who claims to have recently changed it claims 16 gal. Seems impossible to me but I dont want 10 gallons fluid all over the place
. I dont know what tractor he has for sure.

It is not 16 gallons. My CK30 was done in about 7 gallons. Buy it by the 5 gallon pail so you have left over.

use Chevron 1000THF. It is important to use THF, not hydraulic fluid for best HST and wet brake performance. The colored THF is very nice, too, since it is easy to see on the dipstick and you can tell what is leaking easier. |

Thanks for the reply, I used the Shell Rotella tractor multi purpose hydraulic oil, could not find the Chevron brand or the exact products in the owners manual. Seems to work just fine, mowed with it 4 hours this last Sunday. I do have a small seep on the larger hydraulic filter and it is as tight as I can safely get it. Have you experienced that problem?

Did you clean the filter boss and lube the filter oring with oil or grease before putting it on? If you just wiped the boss dry and put the filter on ,it has tendency totwist the oring and will leak. Tightening it more usually doesn't help.
Try loosening the filter just til a little oil runs out and then retighten. |
